Alaska was on the Owen County line three miles east of Putnam County, in southwestern Ashland Township, Morgan County Indiana. Sheasville was an earlier name of the community and it consisted of about 12 families. In 1874 there was no store in Alaska and citizens traded in nearby Lewisville. A church is the only modern marker of the village. The current Alaska Christian Church is on Lewisville Road approximately one-half mile west of the intersection of 1150 West and Lewisville Road and was reportedly built half way between the towns of Lewisville and Alaska. This would mean Alaska was one-half mile west of the church. The area is now fields of corn and soybean with a few rural homes.
