1. Isabelle Johns was the granddaughter of George Johns and Sally O'Neal of Owen County and daughter of their son Renny.
She was born in Vigo County IN in 1840 and moved witb her family to Vermilion County IL in the 1850s.
This picture was probably taken on the occasion of her first marriage to James Whitesett in IL.
She was later to marry (and outlive) John Moore and Jacob Etchison. She spent most of her long life in Champaign and Sangamon Counties in IL .

2. Renny Woodson Johns and Nancy Knight Johns~ Renny Woodson Johns was the son of George Johns and Sally O'Neal of Owen County.
Here he is shown with his wife, Nancy Knight Johns.
Renny served in the Blackhawk War and was awarded bounty lands in Vigo County, IN.
He eventually moved to Vermilion County IL and ended up in Mapleton Iowa.
Many of his children would continue the pioneer tradition, ending up in such diverse locations
as Coos County OR, the southwest Missouri mining area
and Indian Territory prior to Oklahoma statehood.
