He was reared on a farm near Connersville, in this State, and attended the common schools of his county, an academy at Spiceland, and later the State University at Bloomington, from which he graduated, after a four years' course, in 1881. Previous to his collegiate course, he had studied law at Indianapolis. In 1881, he came to Martinsville and engaged in the practice of the legal profession. Recently, he formed a partnership with Mr. Phelps, and is now Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for this judicial district. In politics, he is an earnest and active Republican; he is also a member of the I. O. O. F.
