ALICE M. ALLEE

Owen County Leader 20 January 1977

Alice M. Allee, 55, of Putnam County died January 23 at the hospital in Greencastle. She was born December 22, 1921, daughter of Edward B. and Lummie Hood Johnson. Surviving are her husband, F.M. Allee; daughter Judy Crosby of Greencastle Route 5; sons Gary Allee of Greencastle Route 5 and Timmy of Tacoma, Washington; brother Victor Johnson of Cloverdale; six grandchildren and step-sisters Juanita Broadstreet of Greencastle and Nola Walton of St. Petersburg, Florida. A son Ronnie died June 17, 1972. Rev. Max Hughes officiated at the service Wednesday at Whitaker Funeral Home in Cloverdale. Burial was in New Providence Cemetery.

Bert G. Allee of Spencer, died Thursday, July 10 in the Bloomington Convalescent Center at Bloomington. He was 52 years old. He was born September 14, 1933 in Owen County the son of Bert and Gertrude Williams Allee. His parents preceded him in death. Survivors are his sisters, Paulne Welty of Spencer, Eugenia Hendershot, Lillian Carpenter and Jewell Haltom, all of Rural Route 2, Spencer, Loretta Snyder of Spencer, Betty Haltom of Terre Haute and Vivian Mills of Claremont, Oklahoma and his brother, Lloyd Allee of Cascade, Montana. He was a member of the Cuba Baptist Church. During the Korean War, Mr. Allee served with the United States Navy and was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars of Spencer. He was a former employee of White Arts Printing Company in Spencer. Final arrangements are under the direction of West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home and friends may call at the funeral home from 2:00 until 9:00 pm Saturday, July 12. Graveside services with full military rites will be conducted at Riverside at 2:00 pm Friday, July 18. The Rev. Allen Farmer will be the officiating minister.

MRS. BLANCHE ALLEE DIES AT GOSPORT; RITES WEDNESDAY

Funeral services for Mrs. Blanche Allee, 88 years of age were conducted at 2 o' clock Wednesday afternoon at the Whitaker Funeral Home at Gosport. The Rev. Virgil Baugh was the officiating minister. Interment was in the Samaria Cemetery. Born December 2, 1870 in Owen County Mrs. Allee was the daughter of Tobias and Mary (Asher) Butler. She was a member of the Samaria Baptist Church. Grant Allee, her husband, preceded her in death October 12, 1957. She is survived by three sons, Ora and Walter of California, and Toby of Westfield; three daughters, Mrs. Ursule Frye, Gosport, Mrs. Gloe Craber, Greencastle and Mrs. Pearl Bland of Paragon.



CECIL A. ALLEE, 64, DIES IN HOSPITAL

Cecil A. Allee, 64, of Cloverdale, formerly of Quincy, died early this morning in the Putnam County, Hospital, in Greencastle. He had been critically ill since October 13, when he was admitted to the hospital. Mr. Allee was born in Owen county, on August 18, 1902, a son of John W. and Ora Murphy Allee, and was a custodian at the Cloverdale Community Schools. Survivors include the widow, the former Josephine Arnold; one daughter, Mrs. Marcia Britton of Brazil; two sons, Johnny and Kevin, both at home; three sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Goss of Mooresville; Mrs. Kathleen Schiendler of Indianapolis; and Mrs. Pauline Stockwell of R.R. 1, Gosport; two brothers, Ray, of Quincy, and Archie, of Indianapolis; and one grandaughter. Funeral services will held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Whitaker Funeral Home in Cloverdale with the Rev. Lawrence Coles officiating. Interment will be in the Mannan Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Thursday.

RITES FOR FLOY ALLEE WEDNESDAY

10 August 1972 "Owen County Leader"

Mrs. Floy B. Allee, 79, a native of Owen County died Sunday at the Bloomington Hospital. She was born in Owen County July 10, 1893 the daughter of Homer Craddick and Minnie Lyons Craddick. She was a member of the Spencer Christian Church. Her husband, Lincoln Allee preceded her in death in October of 1971. Survivors include daughters, Dorothy Cohee and Margaret Truax, Spencer, Ruth Folty, Indianapolis and Miss Gene Allee, Oklyn, New Jersey; brother, Glee Craddick, Greensburg; sisters Glennes Cline, Indianapolis, 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Services were held Wednesday at 3:30 pm at West & Son Funeral Home with Rev. George Michel officiating. Interment was in Mannan Cemetery.

GENEVA ALLEE RITES TUESDAY AT CLOVERDALE

Geneva Allee of Indianapolis, a former resident of the Quincy community died Saturday afternoon, August 2 following an extended illness. She was 50 years old. She was born November 26, 1918, the daughter of Robert H. Orr and Ethel Moore. Survivors are her husband, John Archie Allee; one daughter, Mrs. Barbara Perkins of Indianapolis; three step-children, Mrs. Mickey Kart of Mooresville, Matthew Allee of Mooresville, and Aaron Allee at home; her mother, Mrs. Ethel Orr of Indianapolis; one sister, Doris Smith of Indianapolis; one brother, Ray Orr of Indianapolis, and two grandchildren. Funeral services were at 11:00 am Tuesday at Whitaker Funeral Home in Cloverdale. The Rev. Willis Howard was the officiating minister. Interment was in the Mannan Cemetery.



FUNERAL HERE TUESDAY FOR GERTRUDE ALLEE, AGE 87

Gertrude Allee, 87 years old, a long time resident of Spencer, died Saturday, June 14 in the Gosport Nursing Home. She was born August 7, 1898 at Olney, Illinois the daughter of James Williams and Lilly Ray. She was a member of the Cuba Baptist Church. Her husband, Bert Allee preceded her in death in 1953. A brother and sister also preceded her in death. Survivors are her daughters; Pauline Welty of Spencer, Eugenia Hendershot, Lillian Carpenter and Jewell Haltom, all of rural route 2 Spencer, Loretta Snyder, rural route 5, Spencer, Vivian Mills of Claremore, Oklahoma amd Betty Haltom of Terre Haute; her sons, Bert Allee of Spencer, amd Lloyd Allee of Cascade, Montana; 21 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, June 17 at the West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer. The Rev. Allen Farmer will officiate. Interment will be in Cuba Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00 o'clock this afternoon, Monday.

GRANT ALLEE DIES SATURDAY

Grant Allee, 89, retired farmer of the Quincy neighborhood, passed away Saturday at the Gosport Nursing Home after a long illness. He had been a patient at the home the past year. The deceased was born May 10, 1868. Survivors include the wife, who is also a patient at the Nursing Home, three sons, Ora and Walter of California; and Toby Allee of Westfield, Indiana; three daughters, Mrs. Ursella Frye, Gosport RR 1, Mrs. Gloe Craber of Greencastle; and Mrs. Pearl Bland of Paragon RR 1. Funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock pm Monday at the Whitaker Funeral Home in Gosport. Burial was in the Samaria Cemetery.



JOHN WESLEY ALLEE, QUINCY, BURIED SUNDAY

"OWEN CO, IN" September 1958

John Wesley Allee, 88 years of age, died Friday morning, September 12, in Putnam County Hospital. He had been ill two weeks. Mr. Allee was born in Owen County on June 21, 1870, the son of William and Malinda Allee. His wife, Ora Murphy Allee, three sons, Cecil, Ray, and Archie, all of Quincy, three daughters, Beatrice Goss, Eminance, Kathleen Schnieder, Indianapolis and Pauline Stockwell, R1, Gosport, one sister Belle Wright, Hall 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, survive. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, September 14, at the Alaska Christian Church. Rev. fred Smith officiated. Burial was at Mannan Cemetery.

Lincoln M. Allee, 80 years old of Spencer, died Monday night, October 4, in the Gosport Nursing Home. Mr. Allee was a retired minister of the Christian Church, a former teacher and farmer. He was a member of the Spencer Christian Church. He was born January 30, 1891 in Owen County the son of Thomas S. Allee and Lillie Smith Allee. Survivors are the widow, Floy Craddick Allee; four daughters, Dorothy Cohee and Margaret Truax, both of Spencer, Ruth Foltz of Indianapolis, and Gene Allee of Oakland, New Jersey; a brother, Nathan Allee of Louisville, Kentucky; two sisters, Lois Wampler of Gosport and Frances Ellis of Banning, California; 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. One daughter preceded him in death. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm today, Thursday at the West & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. George Michel officiating. Interment will be in Mannan Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home until the time of the service.

Mrs. Mary A. Allee, 73, R.R. 5, Greencastle, died Thursday, January 3 in the Putnam County Hospital at Greencastle. She was born August 5, 1900 the daughter of Lee Hill and Ella Crose Hill. Her husband, Noble Allee preceded her in death in November of 1964. Mrs. Allee was a member of the Church of Christ. She is survived by her daughters, Helen Sinclair, RR 2 Cloverdale, Ruby Neier, RR 1 Coatesville, Betty Hurst RR 5 Greencastle; a son, F.M. Allee, RR 5 Greencastle; sister, May Pitzer of Zionsville; 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2:00 pm Sunday at the Whitaker Funeral Home in Cloverdale with Clarence Barr officiating. Interment was in the Cloverdale Cemetery.

Allee, preceded her in death on September 12, 1958. Mrs. Ora C. Allee, 82 years old, of Quincy, died Tuesday morning, October 11, in the Putnam County Hospital at Greencastle. She had been a patient in the hospital three days. She was born March 10, 1884 in Owen County, the daughter of John Murphy and Kate Stone Murphy. She was married to John W. Allee who preceded her in death in 1958. Mrs. Allee was a member of the Alaska Christian Church. She is survived by three sons, Cecil Allee of Cloverdale, Ray Allee of Quincy, and Archie Allee of Indianapolis; three daughters, Mrs. Beatrice Goss of Mooresville, Mrs. Kathleen Schiendler of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Pauline Stockwell of R. R. 1, Gosport; 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, in the Whitaker Funeral Home at Cloverdale with the Rev. Fred Smith officiating. THOMAS J. ALLEE DIED SATURDAY

"The Owen Leader" July 25, 1932

Thomas J. Allee, 78 years old, for many years a retired resident of this county, died early Saturday morning at his mone in the little village of Cuba, after a long illness due to cancer. He is survived by the widow and five children. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Cuba church and interment was made in the Methodist Cemetery there. Funeral service for Thomas J. Allee, who died Saturday at 1:00 o'clock am was held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Church at Cuba. The services were conducted by Rev. Conrad of Spencer. A quartet composed of Mrs. John Hill, Mrs. Jerry Hill, Herbert Brown and John Appleby sang two hymns and Mrs. John Hill sang, " The Last Mile of the Way" with Mrs. Wm. Rhubeck playing the accompaniments. The pallbearers were; O.L. Coble, Edw. Haltom, John Winklepleck, Hiram Giles, James Summers and Edw. Spangler. Granddaughters and nieces carried the flowers. Burial was in the Methodist Cemetery. The services were attended by a large number of neighbors and friends.

LAST RITES FOR MRS. THOMAS ALLEE

"The Owen Leader" July 15, 1943

Funeral rites were held recently for Mrs. Lillie (Smith) Allee, 74, widow of the late Thomas Allee, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lois Wampler, near Lewisville. Mrs. Allee had suffered from a stroke three years ago and had been in ill health since that time. About a week before her death she suffered a heart attack, which resulted in her death. She was born March 4, 1869 in Owen County, at the same place where she passed away. Her parents were Noah and Elizabeth (Truax) Smith, natives of this county. In 1886, she was married to Thomas Allee, who preceded her in death in '41. Survivors are fours daughters, Mrs. Florence Ross of Paragon, Mrs. Lois Wampler of Quincy; Mrs. Lucille Story and Mrs. Frances Ellis, both of California; two sons, Lincoln Allee of Spencer, and Nathan of Chicago. Also two sisters; Mrs. Lola Mannan of Martinsville, and Mrs. Lulu Wampler of Gosport; and one brother, Morton Smith of Bainbridge.
