Case of Bass and Crouse


State of Indiana vs. Benjamin Bass and Isaac Crouse--Assault and Battery with intent to kill

August Term 1851--Case continued--Bail $500.00. Surety by John Boon and Clayborn Harris. Continuation, Plead not guilty. Trial-Jury finds both guilty. Fined one cent and imprisoned at State Prison for 2 years. Appeal for a new trial. Court orders that verdict of Jury be set aside and new trial be granted. John Boon and Farrow Powell, Bass' surety.

August Term 1852--State declines to prosecute Benjamin Bass. Cause continued for Isaac Crouse.

November Term 1854--Motion by Prosecuting Attorney --case no longer prosecuted.
