Cabinet/Furniture Makers

This page updated November 11, 2005

Cabinet makers became more in demand as the town grew larger. The time for bare essentials had passed and people were interested in the appearance of things, especially the shop owners. Many times there were carpenters who also built cabinets, but the difference was that the cabinet makers were more dedicated to the decorative and precise work then a man who was used to building a house. A cabinet maker was not like a blacksmith, there wasn't one in every community or county.
