THE CONNELLY FUNERAL

Former Spencer Man Who Died in Florida, Brought Here For Burial in Riverside Cemetery

The body of Walter Connelly, 73 years old, a former resident who died in Jacksonville, Florida Monday of last week was brought here Thursday morning for interment. The body was taken to the home of Mrs. Mollie Convis until 4 pm when it was taken to the cemetery where a brief scriptural lesson and the committment service was read.

Mr. Connelly was born Nov. 10, 1848 in Connersville and was a son of Thomas T. and Emma R. Connelly. During Mr. Connelly's residence here he was engaged in newspaper work. On Feb.11, 1873 he was married to America Coffey of Spencer who with their only child, Miss Maude, survives hin. In 1885, they removed to Jacksonville, Florida where Mr. Connelly continued in newspaper work, being connected with the Metropolis of the city. Of late years he had been engaged in real estate work. He had been in failing health for some time and last week his trouble became acute and he failed rapidly dying Monday, September 5.

Accompanying the body to Spencer were Mrs. Connelly and daughter, Maude of Jacksonville, Mr. and Mrs. E.R. Bladen of Indianapolis, their daughter, Mrs. Homer McGinnis of Martinsville and Mrs. Lizzie Coffey of Indianapolis. Mrs. Bladen is a sister of Mrs. Connelly.

Saturday morning the Connellys started for Jacksonville. Miss Connelly holds a responsible position with the Metropolis and her early return was imperative.
