JAMES W. DEAN DIES AT FARM HOME EAST OF GOSPORT MONDAY

Funeral Services Held Yesterday Afternoon at Hudson Hill Church

"James W. Dean, 74, well known east of town farmer, died at his home, near Liberty church, Monday night at 8:30 following a ten year illness. Cause of death was given as chronic nephritis. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the Hudson Hill church, northwest of Gosport, conducted by the Rev. Guy Johnson., local Methodist pastor. Burial was in the churchyard cemetery. Surviving relatives are, the widow Mrs. Eva Snodgrass Dean, four sons, Nobel of the Liberty neighborhood; William, of north of Gosport, and Raymond and Howard, at home; three daughters, Mrs. Oakley Krammes, north of Gosport; Mrs. Maude Huff, Zionsville, and Mrs. Julia Phillips, Indianapolis, and two sisters, Mrs. Grant Cassell of Spencer and Mrs. Bert Ray of Cataract. The deceased was a son of the late William Dean. For many years he lived on his farm, north of Gosport. Just prior to the World War he moved to Gosport and engaged in the mercantile business with his brother-in-law, Grant Cassell. After about two years he returned to the farm. About ten years ago he disposed of his home place in N.W. Wayne twnshp. and moved to the farm on which he died.

John G. Dean died Sunday night of stomach trouble after a long illness. He was buried Tuesday. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Davis.

Dunlap Dean of Indianapolis was called to Spencer the first of the week by a telegram announcing the death of his brother, John Dean.

NOBLE DEAN

February 1951

Noble E. Dean for 30 years a farmer of Baker Twnshp, died suddenly Sunday afternoon at 5:30 at his home of a heart attack. It states further that he was married in 1920, not as I have it listed to Miss Addie Cherry. He was a veteran of WWI. Funeral services will be Wednesday afternoon at the Monroe County Mt. Pleasant Christian Church. Viewing will be at Whitaker Funeral Home in Gosport.

WILLIAM H. DEAN

Gosport Reporter, Friday morning Jan 14, 1927

DIED MONDAY MORNING

"Mr. Wm. H. Dean, age 86 years passed away Monday morning at 1:40. The cause of his death was a complication of diseases. He passed away at the home of his son, Jim Dean. The funeral was held at the Hudson Hill church, Wednesday afternoon at one o'clock, with Rev. Kaylor officiating. Interment was made at the Hudson Hill cemetery."

WILLIAM H. DEAN

"W.M. (sic) Dean an aged and prosperous citizen and a Civil War veteran passed away at the home of his son, James Dean near Gosport, January 10. Mr. Dean and family lived for a number of years near Mill Grove. He was a member of the Methodist Church at that place. Funeral Services were conducted January 12 at Hudson Hill by Rev. Oscar Kaylor and the body was laid to rest in the cemetery at that place."
