Notebook on the Brown and Christy families, (compiled at Burlington, CO, ca.

material was probably from interviews with the author Wyatt Boger's uncle, John
Christy Brown,
who would have been able to identify his aunts and uncles and their families. On
page one, Wyatt
Boger wrote, "Wm Brown, grandfather of Uncle J." The original 26-page notebook
is in the
possession of Win Wood, granddaughter of Wyatt Boger, Penciled note by Wyatt
Boger 19 Jun-2
Jul 1939. "Redhead killed in Coalbank."

Gone But Not Forgotten
A precious one from us has gone
A voice we loved is stilled
A place is vacant in our house,
Which never can be filled.
God in his wisdom has recalled,
The boon his love had given
And though the body slumbers here,
The soul is safe in heaven.

Biography of Marion F. Johnson
CCCman, CC5-71323, Company 560, Camp F-160, Gold Center, Clarkia, Idaho & Camp
P-
216, Camp Las Posadas, Angwin, California
My Dad Marion F. Johnson served in the Civilian Conservation Corps from 10 June
1934 to
21 March 1935. He was in the 560th Company. He first saw service at Camp F-160,
Gold
Center, Clarkia, Idaho doing labor (B. R. Control) type of work which he
explained was really
keeping the brush under control to prevent forest fires. He has many pictures
that he took while
there and also had the thrill of going hunting for the first time where he
bagged his first deer.
Dad next saw service at Camp P-216, Las Posadas, Angwin, California doing Brush
Gang
work but he explained that they planted a lot of trees. His one wish was to go
back some day and
see how the trees had grown. Sadly he never made it.
After giving it much thought he decided not to re-enlist and was discharged at
Fort Knox,
Kentucky the same place he was enrolled eight months earlier. My Dad really
enjoyed his days in
the CCC's. He saw new places, made life long friends and carried a lot of
memories in his heart for
years. His record of service is as follows:
a. From 7-10-34 to 7-16-34, under War Dept. at Fort Knox, Kentucky
Type of work Labor (Conditioning) *Manner of performance Satisfactory.
b. From 7-17-34 to 7-18-34, under War Dept. at Enroute to Clarkia, Idaho
