Francis Manard Fulk was born 1843 in Owen County. His 
parents (my ancestors)
Henry (Heinrich) W. Fulk (Volck) born March 6, 1796 in 
Stokes County, NC,
died October 30, 1883 in Marshall County, IA (after many 
years in Owen
County) and Mary Magdalena Shore, born September 6, 1798 
in Stokes County,
NC, died November 13, 1866 in Marshall County, IA.
The war record of Francis Manard Fulk states that he 
enlisted August 13,
1862 at Owen County Indiana in Company F, 97th Regiment 
of Indiana
Volunteers and was wounded at Altoona, Georgia on June 
27, 1864 during the
charge on Kennesaw Mountain, Georgia. He died in the Corps 
Hospital at Barton Iron Works, Georgia, July 10, 1864. 
He never married.
