HERBERT CONDITIONS

This is really a nice cemetery, or was at one time.

As mentioned, it is located inside the Lieber State Park and is well secluded within there. However, it is not secluded enough to avoid vandalism as just about every stone there has been broken or knocked over. Accessibility as far as weeds, etc is no problem, it is well groomed. But the conditions of the graves themselves is really sad.

Update August 4, 2003-- I made a visit to the Herbert Cemetery yesterday and of the 24 listed stones; 21 of them were broken and of those 21 broken, 16 were illegible due to erosion or that the stones are broken into so many pieces--no writing remains.
