Many persons were found in the 1880 census listing a boarding house or hotel as their place of residents. As the owners of these establishments could have been of any surname, I thought that by setting them apart from the general census records would assist everyone in finding their ancestors in areas they may have overlooked as the head of the households were not "their surname". This will continue to be a work in progress until I get them completed.
These establishments may or may not have been the conventional type of hotel. They may simply have been someone's home.
