Mattie Winters Jamison, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Winters was born
near Coal City, Indiana, February 1, 1876, and passed away at her home in
Glasco, Kansas, January 14, 1948, at the age of 71 years, 11 months and 17
days.
When she was six months old the family moved to Kansas, locating near
Concordia and at the age of 12 years she with her parents came to Glasco,
where the rest of her life was spent with the exception of one year in
California.
On September 17, 1901, she was united in marriage to Jesse L. Jamison. One
daughter, Fern, was born to this union and Fern preceded her mother in
death, May 30, 1919.
Mrs. Jamison was an active member of the Union Sunday School and of the Ruth
Society. Left to mourn their loss are her husband, two sisters, Mrs. Etta
Montgomery of Blue Rapids, Kansas, and Mrs. Bertha Birch of Ontario,
California, four nieces and a host of friends.
Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon, January 16, 1948, at 2:00
p.m., at the Christian church in Glasco, Rev. Gene Smith of St. Paul's
Lutheran church officiating. Singers were Lester Pilcher and Will Pilcher,
accompanied by Mrs. Edw. Berndt. Serving as pallbearers were Albert
Grittman, Roy Martin, Leo Adkins, Vernon Adkins, Gerald Adkins, and Dr. W.A.
Adams. Flower bearers were Mrs. Ruby Capron, Mrs. Merle Beaver, and Mrs.
Minnie McClure.
Interment was in Glasco cemetery, with Griffith Funeral Home in charge.
