BART JOHNSON DIES AFTER ARM IS TORN OFF

Bloomington (IN) Weekly Courier, January 19, 1923, p. 1.

Bart Johnson, 45 years old, a laborer, was fatally injured in the Curtis planning mill at Spencer early Saturday and died three hours later. His left arm was torn from the body. It is thought that his sleeve was caught in the cogs of a hub machine that he was operating.

Uncle Daniel Johnson departed this life the 16th inst. after a lingering illness of over a year. He was interred in the Sells burying ground Monday.

MRS. GERTRUDE JOHNSON

Mrs. Gertrude F. Johnson, 3032 5th Ave, East,Mars Hill, died Wednesday in Evangelistic Center. She was 84. Mrs. Johnson was born in Indianapolis and lived here about 40 years. She was a member of Northview Christian Church.She was a graduate of Central State College at Edmond,Okla. Services: Saturday, 2 p.m. in the Church; Burial, Mt. Olive Fairview Cemetery in Morgan County. Arrangements by Beanblossom Mortuary. Survivors: daughters, Mrs. Joe Marley, Mrs. William House and Mrs. O. E. Dueker, all of Indianapolis, Mrs. H. K. Stoddard, West Palm Beach,Florida., and Mrs. R. H. Harmon, Buras,La.; sons: Marion Johnson, West Palm Beach,Florida; Benjamin Ware, Mooresville; Step-sons, William Johnson,Indianapolis, and Walter Johnson,Battle Creek,Mich., 32 grand-children and 42 great-grand-children.

ISAAC EMORY JOHNSON, 74 years old, died suddenly Saturday, June 29, at 11:40 p.m. at the home of his son Ralph E. Johnson, in Lincoln, Neb., with whom he had made his home since the death of his wife a year ago. He had been in usual health throughout the day, and up until 11 p.m. there was nothing to indicate a change. He had suffered from asthma at intervals and at 11:30 his son was attracted by his labored breathing and went to his room, where he was found to be in a convulsion due to an attack of asthma. He died before the arrival of a physician. His wife died June 20, 1917. He and his son had sat in the yard after supper going over their plans for their trip to Pelican Lake, Minnesota, where they spend the heated period each year, Isaac E. Johnson was born January 17, 1844, in Spencer. His father Finley Boone Johnson was a prominent Kentuckian, a direct descendant of Daniel Boone, who came to Indiana in the early days. Isaac was given the best education possible at the time and proved an apt scholar. He enlisted in Co. H. 14th Inf., Sept. 1, 1862. when 18 years old. --- --

MRS MOLLIE JOHNSON

Mrs. Mollie Johnson, wife of Wm. Johnson, of Indianapolis, and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ireland, of this city, died this morning at four o'clock at Indianapolis. Mrs. Johnson had been in poor health for a number of years and death was immediately due to nervous prostration. She was about 47 years of age. The details of the funeral have not been arranged yet, but the remains will be brought to this city for burial and the services will probably occur Friday morning at ten o'clock at the family residence, on Anderson street.
