Little Mount Baptist Church Members

What is now known as the Little Mount Church first met on May, 17 1823 in the home of
James Baldwin. Records show that a church referred to as Indian Creek Church was accepted into the
White River Association of Churches on August 9, 1823. At this time the membership was 11 people.
This number did not necessarily include children, but joined members. 
On August 14, 1824, the Little Mount Church is listed without any mention made of an acceptance date. 
However--it is listed in the same location that the Indian Creek Church was listed and names some of the
members known to be members of the Little Mount Church. Further searching shows that the
site of Little Mount Church was quite close to Indian Creek in Owen County. There was already
a church in Lawrence County named "Indian Creek" and therefore explains the probable reason
for the name change. 
After the appearance in the Association's records of the Little Mount Church in Owen County,
the Indian Creek name never reappears. This has to be the same church organization.
The actual church building itself was built on land donated by James Baldwin and John Asher.
It was located next to what is now the older section of the Little Mount Cemetery in Wayne
Township. 

The following listing of members comes from some of their older records and is by no means
anywhere near complete. These members extend from 1823-1861; but many are still missing. 
 The grouping of surnames in no way indicates relationships, unless otherwise stated.
 If anyone has any members, please submit them to me. In addition,
many of these members are listed in the church minutes with simply initials and only men are listed.
Family members and wives should be included if I can find them. If anyone has the actual names for these
people please let me know.
