MRS. SUSANNAH (QUERY) LUCAS
The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away.
We humbly bow our heads in obedience to God as this beautiful life has been
taken away. Susannah Query Lucas, the seventh child of Daniel Query and
Susannah (Cox) Query, was born June 21, 1853 at Atkinsonville, Indiana and
departed this life February 17, 1939, age 83 years, 7 months and 28 days.
She was united with the Baptist Church at the age of 13 and lived a devoted
Christian life to the end, and even as the end neared, she sang two verses
of the grand old song, Blessed Assurance. She was united in marriage to
Isaac Newton Lucas on September 1, 1870. To this union were born 13
children, nine preceding her death. Most of her life was spent in and near
Atkinsonville, with the exception of a few years in Illinois. Her last
preceding years were spent in Jordan Village. The deceased is survived by
her husband, Isaac Newton Lucas; one sister, Julia Huber, three daughters
and one son; Mrs. Anna Williams of Center Point, Indiana, Mrs. Flora Ulrich,
Mrs. Daisy Meek, and Mr. Fred Lucas of Jordan Village; also 48
grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Posted by Mike Rastatter
