Ephraim Goss emancipation of John a man of color for 
and in consideration of service and labor during the 
full term of 4 years to me faithfully done and 
performed--is hereby released manumitted liberated and 
set free from all claim I now have to the said John and 
the last person to whom the said John owed service as a 
slave April 18, 1815

Patsy continued to live with the family and in death 
was buried beside them in the Goss Cemetery in Gosport 
Indiana. Aunt Patsy remembered having been brought as a 
slave from Guinea and always said she was going back 
there when she died.
