I remember my first viewing of some immigrant ancestors who settled in Owen county and surrounding areas. I couldn't for the life of me, understand just why of all the places in America to settle they came from Germany to Owen county, IN. It just seemed that persons from Europe would pick places close to the coast or at least the larger cities of Philadelphia, etc. I mean, many persons today don't know where Owen, Morgan or Putnam county is, so it seemed an out of the way place to choose. Sometimes in looking you can see a definite pattern of migrations to Owen county areas.And I am sure there were as many different reasons for coming here as there were people who came. For other reasons, also varied, during certain years settlers seemed to leave for other places, a lot of times you can see certain locales always appearing such as Iowa, Illinois or Missouri. Where did your ancestor come from? Where did they go?

To perhaps make it easier to find these locales in one place instead of surfing the web for them all over. Please include the information categories found below for your ancestor. If you don't know the date, that is fine, you might find it later.
