JOHN Y. MILLS DIED
Owen County Democrat, Spencer, Indiana, March 10, 1892
John Y. Mills was born August 29 (difficult to read), 1825, in Owen County,
Ind., where he lived until his death, March 6, 1892, being 66 years, 6
months and 16 days old. He was a respected citizen, a kind husband and an
indulgent father. Mr. Mills was a man of rare courage and industry. Born
at a time when the country was a wilderness, it fell to his lot to endure
the hardships of a pioneer life, which he did without a murmur, shirking not
from any tasks that such a life imposed upon him. Thirty years ago he lost
his eyesight so that since that time he has been scarcely able to see enough
to walk about. For three weeks preceding his death, he was confined to his
room and bed recognizing the gravity of his disease and believing his
mission on earth about ended. A wife and six children live to mourn his
death, one child having preceded him in death.
Pottersville Lodge No. 204 F. M. B. A. passed appropriate resolutions upon
the death of the deceased.
