DISTINGUISHING FEATURES/PARTICULARS
John was a Revolutionary War veteran and the family migrated from PA to NC to TN
to Pulaski county KY and then finally to Owen county, IN. There were 8 children born to him and his
wife, Margaret Moderell; six of these migrated with them to Owen county. There were both listed as
living in the home of son, Robert and his wife Polly Moderell in 1840. Margaret was in the age group
of 70-80 years and John was 85 years old. Many of their contemporaries were buried in Bethany Surber
cemetery, however, it is pretty decayed now. I am looking for their burials.
They were known to be friends of the Evans, Moderell and Newell families.
