Printers
This page updated August 12, 2005
The job of a printer is pretty self explanatory; although most newspapers had a
printer of their own, it didn't work in the reverse (not all printers were newspaper men.)
Printers also made up handbills that were hung in advertisement.
These men were also the ones who printed "name cards" for young ladies when they came into vogue.
I have also added "typesetters" to this listing as they seemed to belong here. These would have been the persons to make certain that the "type" or words were "set" correctly before the printing was completed.
