Reeves Cemetery

Location: Jackson township in Section 28

The graves listed here were in three cemeteries

that were disinterred to create Cataract

Lake and they are now located in a section of the Cunot Cemetery.

The following list is created from a plot map made by the engineers who did the

disinterrment on July 20, 1950.

Three areas were disinterred because of the Cataract Lake project;

1. The Shrake Cemetery;

2. Reeves Cemetery;

3. Unnamed Cemetery.

Reeves Cemetery as they appear, with notations made by the engineers.

Shrake Cemetery

The SHRAKE Cemetery was described as;

The plot is unfenced & is in poor condition.

Five graves are known and marked with stones.

Thirty graves are unknown and unmarked.

Last burial was in April 1855.

1. Samuel Shrake, who departed this life November 2, 1846 aged 46y 14d

REEVES

2. Martha Reeves, w/o Andrew J. Reeves; d. April 28, 1847 aged 25 years

CHRISTENBERRY

3.Lucy Christenberry, w/o Green H; b. June 17, 1806 d. July 29, 1846

4. Green Christenberry, d. 1855

SHRAKE

5. James M. Shrake, no dates

30 other graves were disinterred but were unmarked.

REEVES CEMETERY

The plot is fenced (35 x50) and is in the condition of fair. Thirteen graves are marked. Four are known and are marked by field stones only. Last burial was in 1900.
