Approximately 15 graves were found. Only 1 modern stone. Several other field stones and sand stones. This was the farm of Alfred Secrest.

SECREST

John, s/o M & M; d. Jan 8, 1862 aged 18y 7m 27d Co. G 38th IND Vol.

It is thought that several other members of the Secrest family were buried here.

 

From the GAR room in the courthouse, the following names were taken and are said to be buried in the Secrest Cemetery, according to Jesse McKay who is in charge of finding and recording the graves of the Veterans of Owen county.

Several other graves of black soldiers are said to have been buried on the Alfred Secrest Farm, south of Patricksburg.
