Traveling Salemen/Drummers
This page updated September 10, 2009
I would assume that the attraction of being a traveling salesman was the desire to see different places. Many people viewed the traveling salesmen with suspicion, they held the view that these were "fast men" who were out to simply take your money. Others did see however that the traveling salesman was simply trying to make a living. It should be pointed out that the men listed below may or may not have resided in the counties. If they were counted in the census records as being a resident of a boarding house or hotel, it is possible that they were only passing through.
