OLA TRUAX BURNED TO DEATH IN EVANSVILLE FIRE

Ola Truax 45 years old, of Owen county, was one of several who were burned to death in a fire that swept a federal housing project near the Chrysler Evansville ordinance plant near Evansville Friday. Truax had been working at Evansville for some time and had been working the night shift. He got off work Friday morning about 8 o'clock and ate his meal cleaned up a bit and went to bed in the barracks. It is said that the maid and housekeeper of the barracks discovered the fire and ran down the hall informing the sleepers that the building was on fire. Evidently Truax and several of the Others were not awakened and perished in the flames. He was a son Of the late Ed and Cora Truax and was born On the farm where his family lives. He attended the Gosport school and was graduated from Gosport high school in the class of 1918. Survivors include the widow, the former Miss Hattie Guilbert, and the following children: Mrs. Betty Jean Winders, Spence; Mrs. Mary Jane Myers, Gosport; Private Robert Truax who is somewhere in England and Joan and Corine at home.
