the word was received here Saturday about 3 P.M. that it was a known

Gosport was one of the dead.
Truax had been working at Evansville for some time and had been working
the night shift. He got off work Friday morning about 8 o'clock and ate
his meal cleaned up a bit and went to bed in the barracks. It is said
that the maid and housekeeper of the barracks discovered the fire and
ran down the hall informing the sleepers that the building was on fire.
Evidently Truax and several of the Others were not awakened and perished
in the flames.
He was a son Of the late Ed and Cora Truax and was born On the farm
where his family lives. He attended the Gosport school and was
graduated from Gosport high school in the class of 1918.
