Undertakers/Funeral Directors
This page created November 15, 2004
The funeral director or undertaker was of course the person who prepared the
body for burial. In earlier times, the deceased laid in state in the home, not in a funeral home.
The deceased was normally taken to the undertaker for preparation and later returned to the family
for home viewing. Listed below are but a few of the many in the counties.
Charlie Whitaker--Cloverdale
John Whitaker--Gosport
William Hollick--Gosport
Louis Drescher--Gosport
