Wood Choppers
This page updated October 4, 2005
The occupation of the wood chopper shows us again that our ancestors would go to any lengths to earn money to provide for their families. Chances are many of these men had a good stand of woods at their disposal; others may simply have performed the service of chopping wood for others that were unable to although it was on their land. Although this was tiresome work, it could provide a good income for a man who had land outside of a town as many of the town residents heated with wood and were not able to get it any other way.
