I truly love all the submissions that are made to our pages...
However, the ones that really stand out as special are those that are
sent in by one person and I can further it through another person or source, making the
original submission that much greater.
For that reason, the following display of photos is most special.
Jacquie Truax Jones submitted a couple of school photos, although some of the
persons were unknown to her; in thinking that some of
my own relatives had gone to Lopossa School, I contacted my great uncle, Carl Lockhart and he
did indeed know the persons in one of the photos--he also sent me further photos from several
years at the Asher School! (He had 6 siblings, some attended the
Lopossa School briefly all in different years. So, we are checking with them to find out if our unidentified
may be their class.)
Another interesting piece is that my great uncle and Jacquie Truax Jones' mother
were classmates and actually are third cousins!!
Lopossa School was located approximately in the area of section 28 in Harrison township.The Lopossa School
was on land taken from the Thomas Lopossa Farm. My great grandfather attended this school for grades 1-8. Until they started
using a bus for kids going to school; there were 4 grade schools in Harrison township--each school had 8 grades.

After busing,
they maintained 2 schools, one with grades 1 through 4 and the other grades 5 through 8
