Mrs. S.C. Medaris was honored on her 75th birthday last Thursday evening with a surprise pitch-in supper at her home
northwest of Spencer. Those present were: Mr and Mrs. Ralph Medaris and son, Bobby; Mr and Mrs. Estel Parrish; Mr and Mrs. Arthur Parrish and
son, Stephen; Mrs. George Yockey; Mr and Mrs Ralph Poulton and son, Stephen; all of Spencer. Also Mr and Mrs Charlie Medaris and son, David of
Bloomington; S.C. Medaris and daughter, Mary, and the honored guest. David Medaris stayed for a few days visit with his grandparents.

at Community Hospital. The baby weighed 7 pounds and six ounces and is their first child. Mr. Medaris is a native of Spencer, a brother of F.M.
Medaris and nephew of Mr and Mrs Ralph Poulton, Mrs. Estel Parrish, Mrs. Mary Medaris, and Ralph Medaris.

Medaris family. The other is a little boy named Ronnie. The mother is the former Miss Normalee Woodburn, daughter of Mary Wood.
Mrs. Laura Hedrick Celebrates 87th Birthday

Mrs. Laura Hedrick, a well known resident of the Chambersville community observed her 87th birthday Tuesday. Her
husband, Elijah Hedrick, along with two daughters preceded her in death a number of years ago. For a number of years, she has made her
home with her granddaughter and family. Tuesday many of her relatives and friends called to extend birthday greetings to this loved one.

Margaret Truax was born December 9th 1904, the daughter of Elbert and Lilly Mae Spangler Truax, the sister of nine brothers; Claude, Charles, Chester, Albert, Horace, Lacy, Noah, Howard, Rex; the wife of Francis Oscar Shultz married on December 31, 1922 at the Gosport M.E. church; the mother of four daughters, Betty Jo Dean, Dorothy Marie Sheese, Mary Elizabeth Deckard, Margaret Yvonne Fidler; the grandmother of nine, the great grandmother of 15, the great great grandmother of 11.
She was joined in her celebration by about sixty of her relatives including her four daughters, two sons-in-law, seven of her grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and many neices and nephews and great neices and nephews from Floyd Knobs, Brownsburg, Peru, Spencer, Quincy, Freedom, Coal City, Greencastle, Terre Haute, Bloomington, Indianapolis

Lula McCullough of Gosport, a Wampler Nursing Home resident, was given a
surprise party in honor of her 90th birthday at the home of Dollie and Brenda
Whitaker of Gosport, route 1.
Attending were Joe Bowman of Ellettsville, Mr and Mrs Joe Farmer, Tammy &
Bradley of Gosport, route 1, Mr and Mrs John Altmeyer and Tonia of Mooresville

Jerry Bohannon of Chesterton were unable to attend, called to wish their aunt a
happy birthday.

Gathered at the home of Mrs. Elinor McCullough to celebrate her seventy-sixth
Birthday. At noon a dinner was served consisting of the good things of the season
And heartily enjoyed by all. Several groups of pictures were taken in the afternoon
including the four generations represented there. Those present were Mr and Mrs
E.H. McCullough and family; Mr and Mrs Vern Twomey and family; Mr and Mrs
C. Twomey and daughter, Erma. Mrs Clarissa Dunkin; Mrs Jane Davis; Mr and Mrs
Frank Beaman and family; Mr and Mrs H.E. Kent and family; Mr and Mrs Carl
Dunkin and son; and Mrs G.C. Dunkin and family. There were three children,
Eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren present.
CELEBRATED 91st BIRTHDAY; THOMAS TRENT

At his home on South Main Street Tuesday, Thomas A. Trent celebrated his 91st birthday. Though Mr. Trent received a number of callers and some messages and packages through the mail the day was spent quietly.For the past several months Mr. Trent has been unable to come up town. He spends a portion of each day in his chair but he rests better by lying down much of the time.Tom Trent is on of Clarke county's most widely known pioneers. He is a veteran of the Civil War and in civil life he has served the public in various local offices. He has ever been a good citizen and in his day he was a prince of good fellows. He and his good wife with whom he is now enjoying the mature years of his long life were married June 28, 1857. Thus they celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary last June.The Sentinel joins in the congratulations extended Mr. Trent on his 91st birthday. Osceola Sentinel of Osceola, Iowa, Oct. 8, 1925 Thomas Alexander Trent married Elizabeth Parrish, he was a son of William Trent and Susanna H. G. Dyer.

Today (Wednesday) is the 83rd. birthday anniversary of John Murphy, who
has been confined to his bed again for over two weeks. It would be a
pleasant day for him if his friends would remember him by sending a card.
This might lighten his suffering for a few minutes at least.

Saturday, Nov. 18, Mrs. Dorothy Murphy was 83 years old. She lives alone
and does all of her work. She received word from relatives they were coming
Sunday for a big dinner to celebrate her birthday and they brought plenty
for all. They had two large cakes for the birthday cake. Mr. And Mrs.
Rolla Pryor and the latter's mother, Mrs. S. J. Ritter and Mr. And Mrs. Glen
Mercer of Bloomington, Chas. Ritter, Mrs. Dewey Walters and two children,
Mrs. Henry Ritter and daughter of Paragon, Mr. And Mrs. Lloyd Thomas and two
sons of Martinsville, Mr. And Mrs. Do?n Coffey of Indianapolis and Walter
Howard of Ellettsville, enjoyed the day and big dinner. Other friends and
relatives called in the afternoon. When leaving all wished her many more
such birthdays. She received some beautiful and useful presents
HER 87TH BIRTHDAY

Last Thursday, Nov. 18, was Mrs. Dorothy Murphy's 87th birthday and she
greeted several friends who called to see her. Mrs. Murphy does her own
housework and always bakes a birthday cake which she serves to her friends.
Her half-sister, Mrs. Mary Baker, was 85 on the same day and she is also
doing her own housework

Mrs. Dorothy Murphy, who was 92 years old Wednesday, was well remembered
by her friends. On Tuesday she began receiving cards and by the end of
Wednesday she had received many cards, letters and presents - -
hankerchiefs, pins, bedroom slippers and other useful articles -- for which
she is sincerely thankful.
Mrs. Murphy is living at the Manners home, corner of Franklin and
Montgomery Streets. She has not been well for some time and is confined to
her room most of the time.
