MARTINSVILLE GAZETTE NEWSPAPER; 18 Feb 1858

One hundred and eleven persons have connected themselves with the M. E. Church, in this circuit, during the winter. The Rev. Mr. Wharton, of Mooresville, formerly of Martinsville, has been laboring for a week or two at Reed's Chapel with considerable success. By order of the Church. BRADFORD GARRISON.
CHURCH NOTICE

There will be an election at the Lamb's Creek Meeting House, in this county, on Saturday, the 7th day of February next, for the purpose of electing Trustees for said Church.

MAY DAY CELEBRATION

**Saturday next is the first day of May and we are pleased to learn that the members of the Christian Sabbath School have determined to welcome it with a celebration. We have been requested to state that the school will assemble at the Christian Church at 1 o'clock, P.M. where an address will be delivered by O.J. Glessner, Esq. and then adjourn to Cunningham's Hill to spend the remainder of the day. A.D. Matthews, Esq., will address the school during the afternoon.
